Study on the performance of arrester valve plate and sealing ring under thermal aging

The life of arrester is mainly determined by the performance of valve plate and sealing ring under thermal aging. To evaluate and predict the life of lightning arresters, the valve plate and sealing ring, which have been put into operation for many years are superimposed with thermal aging, and the electrical properties of the valve plate and the mechanical properties and infrared spectrum of the sealing ring are tested. The results show that with the increase in thermal aging time, the DC reference voltage and leakage current of valve plate decrease and increase with aging time, respectively, the compression set and Shore hardness of the sealing ring gradually increase, and the main characteristic absorption peaks related to aging change obviously. Finally, the correlation model between life characteristics and accelerated aging is established, and the reliability maintenance of arrester is carried out based on the analysis of the model.
