  The quality of oil-impregnated insulating paperboard affects the safe and stable operation of the power system. However, there are many manufacturers of typical insulating materials such as insulating paperboard, and the quality of their products varies. The phenomenon that manufacturers change suppliers without authorization occurs from time to time. In this paper, the terahertz time-domain spectroscopy technology is used to test the insulating paperboards from four manufacturers, ABB, Weidmann, Changzhou Yingzhong and Taizhou Xinyuan, after the same damp time, and the terahertz time-domain spectrum is obtained. The absorption spectrum and the refractive index spectrum are calculated after the extraction of optical parameters. The results show that the moisture content will lead to different absorption peaks of the insulating paperboard, and the raw material of will affect the refractive index of the insulating paperboard. Therefore, the manufacturers of insulating paperboard can be identified by their absorption spectrum and refractive index spectrum.
