The relationship between scientific research and teaching is one of the topics worth discussing in the reform of college curriculum teaching. Scientific research is an independent job, and when there is an opportunity, it can be carried out around teaching in order to better serve teaching. Characteristics of gas insulation and solid insulation have always been important parts of high voltage technology teaching, and the research on the insulation and thermal properties of GIS substation has a pivotal role in promoting and deepening the teaching of high voltage technology course. This embodies the idea of combining teaching and research, stimulating scientific research by teaching and advancing teaching by research. Taking GIS substation research as an example, this paper describes the role of research in the teaching of high voltage technology. Teaching and research have a mutually reinforcing synergy that also contributes to the growth and success of students and teachers.
