Analysis on the Deterioration Behavior of Electrical Contact Structure Used in Gas Insulated Switchgear

In recent years, gas insulated switchgear (GIS) has been widely used in China's power system, but the overheating fault in bus connector often occurs during its operation, which threatens the stable operation of power system. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the failure mechanism of the electrical contact structures used in GIS equipment. In this paper, take the butt-connector as the project, the temperature rise phenomenon at the interface of the bus bar was calculated. The relationship between contact stress and contact resistance was established by measuring the contact resistance and temperature rise of contact point between contacts and conductor. Through electron microscope(SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS), obtained the deterioration morphology of spring contacts under long-term operation, and analyzed the product composition. Relevant research can provide research support for the mechanism analysis of electrical connection structure of GIS equipment.
