Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB) supports the rotor with un-contact magnetic force, and it has been applied in high-speed motor, compressor, and machine tool etc. The sensors detect the displacement of rotor, and the controller generates control instruction based on displacement signals and control algorithm. Amplifier generates actual control current in coils. Withstand voltage of switching devices based on Silicon Carbide (SiC) is larger than which are based on Silicon (Si). As a result, switching frequency and voltage of DC bus can both be increased, which helps improve stability and increase bandwidth of amplifier. This paper puts forward a kind of H half bridge amplifier based on SiC MOSFET device, by SiC device to replace the original Si device, improving the ability of the main circuit board of the high pressure and high temperature resistance, improving the switching frequency, By building a hardware platform based on SiC switch device, the rotor initial suspension and low-frequency rotation experiments were carried out in this paper to verify the reliability of the platform, and the superior performance of SiC device in magnetic suspension bearing will be further verified in full paper.
