Numerical Simulation on Transition from Positive Glow Discharge to Streamer Discharge

The fluid model of corona discharge is presented based on the symmetry of the coaxial cylindrical electrode to simulate glow corona, streamer corona discharge and transition process. The one-dimensional dynamic model of corona discharge includes one-dimensional continuity equations and Poisson equation. The one-dimensional fluid model of corona discharge is solved by finite difference flux correction method (FD-FCT). The correctness of the program is verified by solving a general equation of convection diffusion. It is shown that compared with the two-dimensional fluid model of corona discharge, the one-dimensional fluid model of corona discharge has a much shorter computational time and has a high computational efficiency. The corona discharge current is simulated under different voltage of 10kV, 15kV and 20kV, respectively. The simulation results show that with the increase of the voltage the glow corona gradually turns to the streamer corona.
