Currently, the next generation mobile communication system, called 5G system, has been actively investigated all over the world, in order to satisfy the future expected requirements, such as super high bit rate. One of the approaches is to utilize the high-SHF (over 6 GHz) and EHF (mainly 30-100 GHz) bands. Therefore, it is essential to clarify the radio propagation characteristics of the frequency bands and model it. Here, 5G channel model must support many requirements: Large channel bandwidths (up to 2GHz), a range of large antenna arrays for Massive-MIMO, dual mobility for D2D, and so on. This means that it takes a great deal of time and effort to make the channel model based on measurements, and so numerical simulation based on electromagnetic theory is needed. In this session, the related topics to the mobile radio propagation for 5G; channel model requirements, measurement results, channel modelling approach, and simulation techniques, will be discussed.
