Discrete event systems are used to describe very different aspects of the real world: computer systems, communication systems, manufacturing systems, power/energy systems, and traffic systems. Moreover, hybrid systems combine event-driven dynamics with conventional time-driven dynamics. As such, they encompass a larger class of systems within their structure, allowing for more flexibility in modeling dynamic phenomena.
The objective of the special session is to show the new frontiers in the application of typical tools and models of the discrete event and hybrid systems in order to provide an opportunity for the exchange of information and ideas among researchers and practitioners.
