活动简介

Nowadays, the importance of electrochemical processes in the development of sustainable energy systems is increasing making electrocatalysis a key component of emerging and transformative technologies that will impact our future life.

Electrocatalysis is cross-disciplinary in nature and attracts the interests of chemists, physicists, biochemists, surface and materials scientists, and engineers. Electrocatalysis is of central importance to a range of technologies, including fuel cells, water electrolysis, synthesis of value-added chemicals, water purification, wastewater treatment, and sensing.

The series of electrocatalysis symposia responds to societal energy needs.  The meeting in Shanon will cover a broad range of topics spanning from fundamental studies in electrocatalysis, to electrochemical surface and materials science, and to applications of electrochemical processes in energy science. In addition to experimental research always broadly represented, we expect to have dedicated sessions focused on theory and molecular-level simulations of electrochemical processes as well as on advanced diagnostics. The three previous, successful meetings in Kloster Irsee, Germany, in 2010, Maragogi, Brazil, in 2012, and Whistler, Canada, in 2014, have established ECAT as the primary international forum for scientific exchanges and networking in the field of electrocatalysis.

The meeting in Shonan, in Miura Peninsula, Japan, where we can simultaneously admire the Sagami Bay of the Pacific Ocean and Mount Fuji, one of the most beautiful volcanos in the world, will be an ideal place to continue and to advance this unique international forum. We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 4th International Symposium on Electrocatalysis. The event venue, the Shonan Village Center, offers unique conference facilities in a tranquil setting away from the turmoil of everyday life. Conference participants travelling by plane will be able to easily reach the Center using public transport (see Travel). The Center offers a variety of accommodation options varying from superior, two-level maisonettes (suites) to economy four-bed rooms, ideal for participants with limited budgets. The Center has two restaurants (Japanese and Italian), a coffee lounge and a cafeteria that will meet dietary needs of every participant. The Center is located in a resort-like area, where one can enjoy afternoon and evening walks to Mount Ogusu that offers an unparalleled view of the Bay of Tokyo and the Sagami Bay. Finally, the Center is close to Hayama, where the Japanese Imperial Family occasionally spends their private time at the Hayama Imperial Villa.
