活动简介

One in every four deaths in the United States each year is attributed to heart diseases. The most common being coronary heart disease, with healthcare associated costs estimated at almost $109 billion per year. Heart disease related deaths are attributed to many factors ranging from undetected heart conditions causing sudden death, late detection that may damage heart muscles and require repair, or even improper care after a successful heart surgery. CDC also reports that approximately 735,000 Americans have a heart attack per year, and out of that population about 29% cases are people with previous history of heart attack. Heart failure (HF) affects more than 5 million Americans, and acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) has emerged as the leading cause of hospitalization among people over the age of 65 years. While heart disease is more prominent in older people, younger people are not immune to it.
The goal of this workshop it to explore a better detection, monitoring and prevention of heart diseases to improve the quality of life and lifespan of the adults worldwide. This workshop will consider challenges, discuss technologies, and attempt to formulate the direction for exploring heart disease related technologies.
