National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) Conference Center, Arlington,
Virginia Instrumentation, Communications, and Computing Analytics for the Internet-of-Things (IoT): Impacting the Urban Environment through Energy Production, Delivery, and Efficiency in Buildings, Industry, and Transportation
The 2016 edition of the Future of Instrumentation and Internet Workshop (FIIW) continues along its 5-year trajectory to discuss science and engineering activities in embedded computing, data analytics, and Internet-based communications and networking with application areas lying principally in energy and related sectors. The ability of our “smart” systems to measure, share, compute, and control are resulting in new strategies and capabilities to achieve increased efficiency, resiliency, and security in our integrated energy systems. FIIW 2016 will continue to focus on energy-related topics including:
Modern electricity grid to support and enhance microgrids, renewables integration, resiliency and protection, and cybersecurity Building sensors and controls technologies and integration with the electricity grid Smart manufacturing and the integration of information from the factory floor to the industrial enterprise Sensors and instrumentation for nuclear, fossil, and renewable energy production and integration Delivery of energy and services in urban environments and smart cities Transportation systems and connected vehicle communications and security FIIW goes beyond the consumer IoT technology market, to consider the very important evolution and application of sensors, communications, embedded computing, and cloud computing to the control and transaction of energy, the monitoring and diagnostics of equipment, the delivery of services, and the protection of critical infrastructure and people in the modern urban environment.
