This first IEEE EmergiTech 2016 conference aims at bringing local and international researchers, academicians, business community and research scholars on a common platform to share their experiences, innovative ideas and research findings about the aspects of emerging trends and technologies to build smarter cities and countries. From the local perspective, this conference is well in line with the vision of the Government to build a new economy based on smart and collaborative systems and serve as a pioneering leader in the region by transforming the economy into a vibrant and prosperous one.

The 2016 IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Innovative Business Practices for the Transformation of Societies (IEEE EmergiTech 2016) is the new flagship Conference of the IEEE Mauritius Subsection following the flamboyant achievement of 2013 IEEE AFRICON conference. The first edition of IEEE EmergiTech 2016 is organised jointly with the University of Technology, Mauritius (UTM) and aims to provide an interdisciplinary forum where industry, Government, and academia will meet to discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns regarding the evolution of technology and its impact on societies and businesses. The conference will include 10 symposia reflecting the latest technological developments and research interests. The program will also feature a rich set of workshops and tutorials as well as a featured exhibition space to provide our attendees with a distinctive conference experience. The conference therefore welcomes participants from the region and all over the world to the beautiful island of Mauritius for an exciting four-day event!

The Conference will have Inaugural, Plenary and Breakout sessions, and will also feature a rich set of Tutorials and Workshops on the conference theme in line with the vision of the Mauritian Government to create a Smart Mauritius. Given that many countries have also embarked on the project of transforming their societies to the tune of emerging technologies, the conference will offer an ideal platform to international players to showcase their innovative research and share their experience. An exclusive Conference gala dinner bathed in the local folklore will be proposed to our attendees as well as a half-day tour to reveal the exotic beauty of the island.
