This meeting will cover new and emerging methods of MR that highlight innovative technologies, address unmet basic science and clinical needs and propose new opportunities for applications beyond the current state-of-the-art. The "Inside Out" part of the meeting will focus on the development of new MR technologies driven by the current evolution of "Industry 4.0" concepts. The whole measurement process will be addressed including magnets, gradients, shims, RF coils, data acquisition and processing beyond mere incremental improvements of existing technologies. Each topic will be covered by leading experts in the respective fields. The "Outside In" part of the meeting will focus on basic science and clinical applications, where the full potential of MR has yet to be explored. A guiding theme will be different aspects of imaging vs. genetics with presentations on key topics including, but are not limited to: characterization and phenotyping of animal models, MR and optogenetics, optical imaging methods for the investigation of intact organs, fingerprinting and quantitative MRI, MRI in cancer and new applications for clinical MRI. In the spirit of Gordon Research Conferences, presentations will be given by a balanced mix of young scientists driving the innovation process and experienced speakers. Young investigators and students are particularly encouraged to attend and will receive special support. In addition to the invited talks and poster presentations, the late-breaking presentations – selected from the poster abstracts – will provide for inclusion of latest developments.
