COGNITIVE LINGUISTICS AND INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES
COGNITIVE LINGUISTICS AND INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES The 8th Conference on Language, Discourse, and Cognition (CLDC 2016) provides an international forum that brings together researchers interested in language, discourse, and cognition. The focus of CLDC 2016 sets "Cognitive Linguistics and Interdisciplinary Studies" as the main theme in the hope that we can further explore various issues bearing on the symbiosis among cognition, language and other disciplines. We would like to invite original abstracts on topics dealing with, but not limited to, the following disciplines or sub-disciplines:
Cognitive Syntax
Cognitive Semantics
Cognitive Pragmatics
Cognitive Sociolinguistics
Corpus Linguistics
Linguistic Typology
Cognitive Linguistics and Interdisciplinary Studies (Psychology, Neuroscience, Biological Science, Cognitive Science, Social Science, Information Science, etc.)
LANGUAGE VARIATION AND COGNITION
The 8th Conference on Language, Discourse, and Cognition (CLDC 2016) features a special theme titled "LANGUAGE VARIATION AND COGNITION". Language variation and change has long been an important topic across different disciplines, such as linguistics, psychology, anthropology and other cognitive sciences. It not only pertains to almost every aspect of language, including phonetics, phonology, morphosyntax, semantics, pragmatics, and discourse, but also involves various mechanisms in and interactions with biology, cognition, and sociocultural factors. The study of language variation thus enables us to gain more insight into both the working of language and the essence of human mind. In recent years, the development of new methods and tools such as corpora and neuroimaging even allows for more possibilities to delve deeper into the link between language variation and human cognition. In view of the importance and potential of this topic, the special theme of CLDC 2016 invites abstracts on research related to various aspects of LANGUAGE VARIATION AND COGNITION, including theoretical and/or applied and interdisciplinary studies. Possible topics include, but are not restricted to, the following:
Language Variation and Linguistics Studies (Phonology, Phonetics, Cognitive Syntax, Cognitive Semantics, Cognitive Pragmatics, Cognitive Sociolinguistics, Language Acquisition, etc.)
Language Variation and Cognition
Language Variation and Communication
Language Variation and Culture
Language Variation and Society
Language Variation and Typology
Language Variation and Multimodal Studies
Language Variation and Interdisciplinary Studies (Psychology, Neuroscience, Biological Science, Cognitive Science, Information Science, Engineering, Humanities, etc.)
