The Comparative Education Society of India was established in 1979 and admitted to the World Council of Comparative Education Societies (WCCES) in 1980. The decision to form CESI was made in the late 1970s during a meeting in Allahabad of the Indian Association of Professors of Education.

The Society was registered in 1982 with the following objectives:

To promote the comparative study of education and to make social scientists and others conscious of the importance of comparative education as a science and as a subject.
To provide a forum for exchanging ideas on national, regional, and international aspects of education and further new research in their comparative aspects for improvement in the standard of teaching, policy making and administration of education, by organizing academic discussions, and symposia, field visits, excursions, and conferences, and by publishing journals and monographs, reviews, pamphlets and other literature.
To cooperate and collaborate with other societies with similar objectives in India and abroad, with official agencies and departments of Government of India and of the United Nations (including UNESCO, UNICEF, etc) and other organizations for the study of and research in comparative education and generally for advancement of the subject.

Abstracts are invited for the Conference theme 'Modernity, Transformative Social Identities and Education in Comparative Contexts' to be held in Vadodara from December 14-16, 2018. The concept note for the Conference and the sub-themes are suggestive of the kind of topics that may be chosen to be presented at the Conference. An abstract is around 750 words and should aim to give a detailed idea of the themes that will finally comprise the body of the full paper. The title of the abstract must be concise and be able to clearly identify the nature of study that has been undertaken. The language of the abstract should be crisp and there should be no unnecessary repetition of ideas. The empirical research based abstracts must provide a clear idea of the key theoretical concepts, methodology and the main research findings. The papers should be original. Mention the sub-theme under which you will like to present your paper. The extended abstracts will be peer reviewed and those individuals whose abstracts are accepted will be invited to submit the full paper. They would be expected to have a valid CESI Life/Annual membership and would be expected to register for the Conference. CESI Membership can be obtained at the Conference Venue as well.

You will first be invited to create a new account and then taken to the CESI 2018 submission page. There click on New Submissions in the upper left corner to get a form in which you can enter your contact details and paste your abstract. Click on Submit to finish.

We also invite proposals for organizing panel discussions on sub-themes that are inconsonance with the Conference theme as laid out in the concept note. The theme of the Panel Discussion, the names of speakers (maximum-4), their institutional affiliation and extended abstracts of each of the proposed papers will need to be submitted.
