ITST conference was founded by the National Institute of Information and Communication Technology (NICT, Japan) in 2000 as one of the first forums dedicated to intelligent transport systems. During the last seventeen years, ITST became the trademark of newest ideas and latest research results from the leading industrial entities and scientific institutions in the area of transport communications.
Former editions of ITST were organized in Japan (in 2000, 2001 and 2010), Korea (2002), Singapore (2004), France (2005, 2007 and 2009), China ( 2006), Thailand (2008), Russia (2011), Taiwan (2012), Finland (2013), Denmark (2015) and Poland (2017).
The 16h edition of International Conference on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Telecommunications (ITST 2018) will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, in October 14-17, by INESC-ID and Instituto Superior Técnico, under the technically co-sponsorship of IEEE Portuguese Section (pending approval).
ITST 2018 intends to be the forum where academia and industry present, discuss and share the recent advances of telecommunications and its impact on Intelligent Transportation System. Plenary sessions, invited talks, thematic workshops, demonstrations and pannel discussions will be part of an amazing experience, in the vibrant and newly rediscovered city of Lisbon.
The advances of ICT created the opportunity to redesign the area of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in a way that enables the emergence of a new mobility paradigm. Vehicle automation and cooperative applications and services are key components of this new paradigm, crossing all the transportation sectors and having a major impact in urban mobility.
Telecommunications plays a central role in all this process. Although standardisation is already on going and large-scale experiments are being deployed, there are a lot of research challenges to be addressed in such large scale, heterogeneous and mobile network.
