活动简介

In 2018, the Faculty of Education is celebrating the 40th year since its inception and it is relatively young when compared to the fact that the University of Malta traces its origins to the founding of the Collegium Melitense, which was set up through direct papal intervention on the 12 November 1592. The history of the University is, in its own right, a reflection of the chequered past of our country. Over the course of the centuries our University has been engaged in situations wherein the Maltese identity – our history, our culture and our language – has crossed paths with foreign influences. This has shaped the University of Malta as we know it now: a space where the local context finds a fruitful blend with experiences which originate from collaboration with colleagues from all over the world.

Although the Faculty of Education deals primarily with teacher training, over the years it has invested heavily in its postgraduate programmes and it has established strong relationships with foreign counterparts. The vision of the Faculty of Education is summarised through our motto: Promoting an educated public in a participatory democracy. Today, we are well aware of the importance of networking – not just as a buzzword – but as a concept that is the core of our existence as researchers and as academics. After all, in academia, few endeavours are more worthwhile than having opportunities to meet colleagues with whom we can exchange ideas and experiences, while sharing our passion for Education as a means through which we can invest in our learners.
