The 2017 edition of the Gordon Conference on Mechanisms of Membrane Transport will continue the tradition of this conference focusing on cutting edge research in the field of membrane channels and transporters with particular emphasis on their mechanisms of action. Planned sessions will highlight newly developing approaches to integrate structure, dynamics and function of these proteins in the context of energy landscapes and illustrate their applications in understanding mechanisms of diseases. A dedicated session will showcase recent advances in the cryoEM analysis to gain insight into large multimeric/oligomeric channels and transporters.
The Conference has consistently provided a forum for young scientists to showcase their research achievements through oral presentations integrated into the program along with the lectures from established leaders in the field. In addition, the daily poster sessions allow ample time for free and informal discussions, networking and inception of new collaborations. We are excited to announce that the second edition of the Mechanisms of Membrane Transport Gordon Research Seminar will immediately precede the Conference. It will build on the resounding success of the first GRS held in 2015 providing young trainees with opportunities for additional interactions, career and scientific discussions with their peers.
We strongly encourage Conference applications from both junior and senior scientists from overseas, from minorities, and from those with disabilities. We are applying for funds to offset costs to those with financial constraints.
