During the past three decades, the world has been facing greater challenges on account of several factors. Among them, climate-change and scarcity of natural resources pose serious challenges to the global business, economies and the mankind. The present economic development models, for instance, that are focusing only on a higher level of GDP growth, have a very narrow and short-term vision. These models, unfortunately, neither consider long-term growth nor, most importantly, the future generation. Certain natural resources such as fossil fuels and clean drinking water have been depleting at a faster rate. Fossil fuels, largely contribute to the menace of pollution. Undoubtedly, the primary challenge before the community is to ensure creation of wealth for businesses and greater value for shareholders/consumers in an environmentally sustainable manner.

Of course, nations should create a highly conducive business climate in order to ensure sustainable economic growth to benefit humanity, in the long-run. Understandably, achieving sustainable economic growth warrants coordinated efforts by all the concerned stakeholders including companies, governments, regulators and the consumers. Preservation of natural and exhaustible resources is quite possible only with the sustainable economic growth models, research indicates. The need of the hour, quite imminently, is to introduce equitable, sustainable, viable, environmentally-friendly, socially-relevant and innovative economic models. Against this background, this conference provides a platform for academicians, scholars, researchers and industry practitioners to share their insights, views and research findings with the fellow academicians from different parts of the world. More specifically, this conference makes an attempt to:

a) Make a coordinated effort to identify and analyze sustainability-related economic issues and challenges being faced by the humanity, today;

b) Provide a platform for academicians/scholars, practitioners and researchers to generate and discuss sustainable economic growth models quite helpful to the mankind;‎

c) Enhance opportunities for poor people so that they would contribute to the economic activities which would also help poverty reduction and narrow the gap between the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’;

d) Ensure that the business community adopts renewable sources rather than the fast-depleting resources such as farming, fishing, mining and fossil fuel;

e) Suggest appropriate methods to ensure continued growth, prosperity and higher standard of living to the global citizen in a much more sustainable manner.
