International and interdisciplinary, the event is dedicated to the presentation and discussion, in English, of scientific and technological advances in the field of materials. In the last editions, the meeting has gathered about 2,000 participants from several parts of Brazil and from dozens of other countries. This edition of the event will comprise 21 thematic symposia. Within them, researchers and students from Brazil and abroad may submit abstracts of their works for oral presentation or poster. The symposia cover a wide range of themes in materials research, such as nanomaterials, biomaterials, surfaces, electronic organic materials, electroceramics, advanced metals, nanocellulose, experimental and computational techniques for materials study, materials performance under extreme conditions, among others. The symposia also include materials applications in the segments of energy, healthcare, transportation, neurosciences, electronic and photonics, among others. In addition to the thematic symposia, the event includes a workshop totally organized by students belonging to Brazil-MRS University Chapters program, which is also accepting abstracts in subjects such as entrepreneurship, papers publishing and ethical issues. The best papers from each symposium submitted by undergraduate or graduate students will be distinguished at the end of the event with the Bernhard Gross Award, which pays homage to one of the pioneers of Materials research in Brazil. Researchers from Brazil, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and United States, among other countries, coordinate the symposia of the XV Brazilian MRS Meeting. The general coordinators of the event are Prof. Ana Flavia Nogueira and Monica Alonso Cotta, from the Institute of Chemistry and Physics, respectively, at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). Besides the technical presentations and invited lectures within the symposia, the event will feature eight plenary lectures, where internationally renowned scientists will talk about issues of big scientific and social impact and show results at the frontiers of knowledge. The Brazilian Materials Research Society (B-MRS) and the Organizing Committee of the XV Brazilian MRS meeting invite the worldwide community of materials research to attend the 2016 Meeting, which will be held at the Expo Dom Pedro Convention Center in Campinas, in the period September 25-29, 2016. This traditional forum will be dedicated to recent advances and perspectives in materials science and technology.
