The Symposium is organized for the first time in March 2016 through a partnership among four faculties of the University of Malaya: Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FSKTM), Academy of Islamic Studies (API), Academy of Malay Studies (APM) and Faculty of Languages and Linguistics (FLL) where FSKTM acts as the main organizer. This is a biannual symposium, with the 2016 theme of "The authenticity of the Quran and the Hadith in the Global World".
The main purpose of this symposium is to address the problem of fake Al-Quran and Al Hadith in social media. This symposium serves to be a center of excellence and reference based on the current research conducted in the area of validating and preserving the authenticity of digital Al-Quran and Hadith in the country. This center envisions collaborating with partners around the world with has vast knowledge in the area to further increase understanding the philosophy of Islam in digital era. This symposium is also aimed at assisting the country to curb the thread of false Islam teaching. It is hoped that collaborative efforts involving external parties such as government organizations, private sector/industry and other non-government bodies will be fostered through this symposium.
The theme and title of the symposium are focused on aspects relating to information technology, the Quran and the Hadith, the world of language and linguistics, with the goal towards promoting excellence in the development and management of system security and authenticity of the digital Quran and Hadith. Experts and stakeholders in related fields are invited to discuss current issues in the related topics. Speakers from other countries are also be invited to present papers based on their areas of expertise.
1. Application and techniques in information technology related to the data integrity, preservation and authenticity of digital Al-Quran and Hadith.
2. Language issues in translated versions of Al-Quran and Hadith.
3. Validation of meaning and interpretation of Al-Quran and Hadith.
4. Development and management of system security and authenticity of Al-Qur'an and Hadith.
5. The role of government or private bodies in maintaining the legitimacy of Al-Qur'an and Hadith.
6. Issues related to false translation and interpretation of Al-Quran and Hadith.
7. Abuse of Al-Quran and Hadith tafseer by certain groups.
8. Educating people in identifying fake Al-Quran and Hadith.
9. Issues on using false Hadith in banking and management.
10. Mobile Apps and modified versions of Quran with possible solutions.
11. Quran and Its Misinterpretation in Internet world.
12. Detection of fabricated Malay Hadith in social media.
