The third edition of the International Workshop on Semantic Technologies in Ubiquitous, Massive and Smart Learning (STUMS) aims at investigating decision-making processes and decision support systems in education.
Nowadays, MOOCs as well as traditional e-Learning Platforms managed by Schools and/or University Institutions generate a wide range of data that need to be collected together with other information like learner demographics, school budgets, school physical/digital infrastructure, etc. These data are continuously generated so they need to be collected in a timely manner in order to be meaningful for supporting decisions at several levels of responsibility: policies, educational organization, teaching/learning. In addition, many informal sources of education-related data can be gathered from Mobile Apps, Smart Toys, Social Networks, etc. All these data, coming from both formal and informal experiences need to be intelligently processed and visualized to monitor current emergence state and then, identify and provide meaningful recommendations to support decision-making processes at the above mentioned three levels of responsibility.
In such a scenario, STUMS 2016 would like to investigate approaches, frameworks, algorithms and technologies for Education Decision Support Systems. Interdisciplinary works (e.g. fusion of pedagogies and technologies), theoretical papers and papers describing practical experiences (also in designing and developing systems and applications) will be welcome.
