On behalf of the Executive Committee of the XII Bolivarian Symposium of Petroleum Exploration in the Subandean Basins, an event organized by the Colombian Association of Petroleum Geologists and Geophysicists (ACGGP), I would like to invite you to participate in this exciting geoscience meeting, to be held in the beautiful city of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, from September 4th to 7th, 2016.
The Symposium is held every three years and has become the main forum for explorers working on the basins along the Andean chain or analog terrains to interchanging ideas and highlighting their latest works. In addition to its strong technical content, the Symposium is also renowned by the lively atmosphere, with multiple social events and great networking.
Now in its twelfth edition, the Symposium adopts the theme ¨New Frontiers, New Challenges”, which acknowledges the major changes our industry is experiencing, both below and above the ground.
Great expectations surround the potential for Unconventionals in Latin America so a thematic session of the Symposium is devoted to the topic. Also strong in the Agenda are heavy oil, which accounts for most of the production growth seen in Colombia in the last few years, and the Offshore Caribbean, where a significant increase in exploration activity is underway and shall finally put to test the potential of this promising new hydrocarbon province.
Acknowledging that the Pre-Salt in Brazil and the new developments in Mexico are the hot areas for the industry in Latin America, we are inviting key note addresses in these high profile themes.
