ISPE-XV will present a “smorgasbord” of opportunities to share and indulge in the most recent advances in the fascinating field of polymer electrolyte materials, alternative electrolyte systems, electrochemical applications and fundamental understanding of ion transport and structure-dynamic properties. ISPE-XV also includes a wealth of related soft matter such as ionic liquids, hybrid concepts, gels, glasses, etc. The ISPE has for almost 30 years been the prime international forum for scientists to communicate their work to both academic and researchers as well as to industry. Since the inauguration of the series in 1987 the ISPE has been held in the United Kingdom (St. Andrews, 1987), Italy (Siena, 1989), France (Annecy, 1991), USA (Newport, Rhode Island, 1994), Sweden (Uppsala, 1996), Japan (Hayama, Kanagawa, 1998), Australia (Noosa, Queensland, 2000), USA (Santa Fe, New Mexico, 2002), Poland (Mragowo, 2004), Brazil (Foz do Iguaçú, 2006), Portugal (Ofir, 2008), Italy (Padova, 2010), Iceland (Selfoss, 2012), and Australia (Geelong, 2014). Now, 20 years later, it is our pleasure to invite you back to Sweden and Uppsala, this time co-organized by the two polymer electrolyte research groups at Uppsala University and Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg. ISPE-XV will continue in the tradition of being a truly multidisciplinary meeting with a broad international participation covering everything from the very fundamentals, theoretical and modelling contributions, to applied studies, materials processing and device fabrication. Topics include, but are not limited to, electrolytes for lithium- and sodium-ion batteries, fuel cell membranes, electrolytes for photo-electrochemical systems, supercapacitors, sensors & actuators, new synthesis techniques, etc. Not least, we hope this meeting will bring newcomers and many young researchers including PhD students into our rapidly expanding field of science and materials research. We hope that you will come to ISPE-XV to contribute to the richness of discussions on exciting new fundamental and applied science which the ISPE meetings are so well-known for. We also hope you will enjoy Sweden and the pleasant atmosphere of summertime Uppsala.
