Services represent a major part of the IT industry. In a service oriented system, software resources are assembled as services. Services computing leverages computing to model, create, and manage business services and service oriented systems. In the area of service computing, cloud computing has become a services delivery platform and an increasing number of companies are attracted of the ‘pay-as-you-go’ use of services. Extensive research is being pursued towards attaining seamless interoperability and integration in service oriented systems, and different solutions were already proposed, which, in general, have a limited scope and tackle a very specific aspect of interoperability. The heterogeneity of existing solutions is preventing service oriented systems to seamlessly interoperate. Although several benefits of seamless interoperability in service oriented systems and cloud are claimed, a generally accepted reference model, framework or approach is not yet available. Several questions are still unanswered, e.g., How to monitor interoperability in a service oriented system? How to integrate services in a business oriented system? How to achieve seamless interoperability in cloud? Which are the main decision criteria for service selection in service oriented systems to attain interoperability? How to assess interoperability and integration in service oriented systems? While extensive research is being pursued on technical aspects related to interoperability of service oriented systems and cloud computing, business and management aspects are often neglected. Business modeling and management in service oriented systems, business process management and integration, service monitoring and services analytic modeling continue to receive little attention. This Workshop aims at covering this gap. It addresses broad issues on interoperability and integration in service oriented systems, from a technical and business perspective. The main goal of the IISOS Workshop is to gather researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas, present and discuss their most recent achievements and lessons learned addressing challenges related to interoperability and integration in service oriented systems. The submission of papers describing research and development work on technical, business and management related aspects on interoperability and integration in service oriented systems is encouraged, e.g., new concepts and approaches related to interoperability and integration in service oriented systems and cloud environments, tools and systems providing practical implementations supporting such models and approaches, integration of services in business process oriented systems. In addition, we are also interested in application papers discussing the power and applicability of these methods and techniques to real-world problems. This Workshop encourages papers presenting novel research and developments, and particularly values the practical experience gained from designing, building and using services to attain seamless interoperability. Submissions of original and unpublished works are invited, including research, theory, and applications.
TOPICS of interest include, but are not limited to:
· Methods, frameworks and methodologies for interoperability and integration in service oriented systems or cloud environments
· Strategies and strategic decisions for services (e.g., concerning optimal resource utilization; service selection criteria) to attain seamless interoperability in service oriented systems and cloud
· Integration of services in business process oriented systems (e.g., including integration between clients and environments)
· Interoperability use cases in service oriented systems and cloud computing from different application domains (e.g., healthcare, financial sector, transportation and logistics) and cross-domain.
· Standard interoperability mechanisms for service oriented systems.
· Developments/ tools supporting interoperability and integration in cloud environments
· Monitoring and evaluation of services and SLA
· Integration methods for service oriented platforms.
