Energy sector is the main regulator determining sustainable development of the country. Today, the Russian oil and gas sector is facing new challenges and changes. On one hand, the current industry position is characterised by high level risks for Russian energy companies, which have to operate in an unstable political and economic environment. On the other hand, complex and stressful situations often effectively stimulate action and become catalysts in search of new solutions and ideas. That is why the main theme of this 2016 SPE conference is the statement by Albert Einstein: “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity”.
Development and implementation of advanced engineering solutions and breakthrough technologies in oil and gas production are key to the future of the Russian oil and gas industry.
In addition to the issues of joint projects realisation, international experience exchange and sustainable international cooperation there is an urgent requirement for development of internal capacities and technologies, taking into account local specifics.
