We invite you to participate in the International Conference “Digital Transformation & Global Society” (DTGS-2016). The conference will be held in June, 24-25, as a part of the Joint Conference “Internet and Modern Society” (IMS-2016), which takes place in St. Petersburg annually since 1998 and brings together leading researchers and professionals in the field of Information Society issues.

We welcome paper submissions and speakers on topic related to Information Society and new trends in Digital Transformation.

The Conference key fields of inquiry fall into five core sections:

1) eSociety

ICTs have largely contributed to the transformations of social structures and relations. The new media and social networking sites are changing the way people behave and interact. ICTs present new opportunities for civic engagement and participation, simultaneously challenging existing social and political institutions, and drawing lines of inequality. That poses questions regarding the mutual adaptation of technologies and society, as well as the way social and technical sciences can jointly resolve these issues. The topics of the section will include but not limit to:

  • Digital Transformations and Digital Divide

  • Culturology of Cyberspace

  • Digital Humanities Culturology of Cyberspace

  • E-Government, E-Governance and Open Government

  • E-Participation and E-Democracy

  • New Media Studies

  • Social Networking Services’ Impact on Social and Political Relations

  • Computational Social Psychology (Discrete Choise).


2) eCity

This section will address the prospects, challenges and best practices of Smart City technologies to transform city infrastructure and municipal policies. The discussion will concentrate on how ICTs and contemporary Urban Studies combined are able to raise standards of living and welfare, as well as facilitate social, cultural and economic transactions. Another important issue is the role of Big Data and ICTs in promoting coherent municipal decision-making to tackle city problems. Provisional topics of the section are:

  • City Data Processing and Usage

  • Computer Modeling in Municipal Decision-Making

  • Information Security in Smart City Technologies

  • Web-Technologies and Software for Smart City

  • Geospatial Technologies

  • ICTs and Urban Studies


3) eHealth

The section covers a wide range of aspects the new electronic processes and ICTs may support the modern healthcare. The global transformation of healthcare systems due to new technologies comprise of the development of diagnostics and treatment, delivery of better medical services, provision of accurate healthcare statistical data for smarter management etc. The discussion will focus on such topics as:

  • ICT for Medial Purposes of Diagnostics, Treatment and Rehabilitation

  • ICT and Global Healthcare: Big Data Accumulation and Processing

  • ICT for Better Healthcare Management

  • Modeling and Visualization Tools for Medical Purposes

  • Bioinformatics


4) eScience

Contemporary social and humanitarian research has become more complex and sophisticated in its usage of information technology achievements. The synthesis of Informatics and Social Sciences (Humanities) opens new horizons for inquiry based on Big Data analysis and high-tech calculations, providing more accurate arguments and predictions. The section will be devoted to the discussion of mutually beneficial collaborations between technical and social fields to boost scientific progress, as well as to presentations of results of such collaborations. Preliminary issues here are:

  • Intelligent Calculation Systems;

  • Big and Complex Data;

  • Network Analysis for Scientific Research;

  • Virtual Reality, Modeling and Visualization for Scientific Purposes.


5) eKnowledge

ICT provide unprecedented opportunities for science and education to be globally accessible, hence making universities, libraries and academia adapt to new communication environment. The prospects, practices and perils of new technologies’ usage in the sphere of knowledge – sharing will be discussed in this section, encompassing the following topics:

  • E-Learning and University Transformation

  • E-Libraries and Transformations of Science

  • Open Science, Open Research and Open Access


All accepted papers will be published in the ACM International Conference Proceedings Series (indexed in Scopus).

English is the language of the DTGS-2016 and of all submissions.
