We are organizing a special workshop for Smart Rehabilitation Technologies, co-located with ICOST 2016, with the aim to tackle particularly challenging issues in this domain of research. We hereby invite researchers working in this domain and interested in participating in this special workshop to submit papers through the ICOST 2016 submission system (EasyChair) using the same procedure and manuscript style (Springer) - please do select the specific workshop topic “Smart Rehabilitation Technologies” from the topics menu so that you submission will be properly handled. We will select several high-quality transactions-style papers from this workshop for fast-track publication with IEEE Trans. on Services Computing (TSC), whereas only the abstracts of these papers will appear in the 2016 ICOST proceedings. Interested authors please consult with the scope statement of IEEE TSC. Papers recommended for IEEE TSC special issue will need to be converted to the format required by IEEE.
In this past decade, extensive and groundbreaking research on sensing technologies and human activities recognition has developed new insights into smart rehabilitation. This workshop provides a forum for researchers and practitioners to present and discuss research on Smart Rehabilitation. The goal of IW-SMART is to create and further develop new and existing theories and technologies to examine the scope, effectiveness, and appropriateness of home-based rehabilitation.
Topics will include smart rehabilitation related to (but are not limited to):
· APPs for rehabilitation
· Assistive technologies
· Automated bio-monitoring systems
· Automated measurement and analysis
· Automated rehabilitation exercise analysis
· Health telematics & Informatics
· Human activity recognition
· Home-based rehabilitation
· Human-centric sensing
· Motion tracking technologies
· Physiotherapeutic exercise monitoring system
· Rehabilitation gaming systems
· Remote physiotherapy treatments
· Sensing technologies for rehabilitation
· Virtual reality-based rehabilitation
