The Lipoprotein Metabolism GRC is one of the longest standing conferences in the 85 year history of the GRC. The program for the 2016 Lipoprotein Metabolism Conference will communicate new and exciting advances in the field and will bring together a range of established investigators, new investigators, and trainees from around the world to present and discuss a range of topics related to new developments in lipid and lipoprotein metabolism, particularly in those areas that impact chronic human diseases, such as coronary heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and hepatosteatosis. Basic molecular and cell biological studies, animal models of metabolism, human genetic studies, and emerging therapeutics will be presented and discussed. Topics include: 1) Lipid transport and catabolism, 2) Liver and intestinal lipid/lipoprotein metabolism, 3) Keynote Address on lipoprotein metabolism and coronary heart disease by a world-renowned National Academy of Science member, 4) In vivo physiology of lipid metabolism, 5) Lipoproteins and the vascular wall, 6) HDL function, 7) Genetics of lipid/lipoprotein metabolism, 8) Therapeutics for cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, and 9) Intracellular lipid metabolism. In addition to outstanding leading-edge lectures and discussion, poster presentations represent an integral part of the scientific program. Additional oral session presentations from young investigators (students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty) will be selected from among submitted abstracts.
The topics and speakers for the conference sessions are displayed below (italics denote discussion leaders). The Conference Chair is currently developing their detailed program, which will include the complete meeting schedule, as well as the talk titles for all speakers. The detailed program will be available by February 12, 2016. Please check back for updates.
