The 2016 NOX Family NADPH Oxidases Gordon Research Conference (NOX-GRC) features state-of-the-art unpublished work covering the multidisciplinary scope of NOX research, and will be preceded by a NOX Gordon Research Seminar (NOX-GRS) for research trainees, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. NOX family proteins have emerged as major ubiquitous sources of reactive oxygen species with relevant signaling functions, implicated as powerful mechanisms of disease. This investigative area is moving forward at very high pace, with exciting advances at the molecular, cellular, physiological and clinical frontiers. NOX-GRC has firmly established as the premier forum for discussing state-of-the-art research in the area in a highly collegiate, collaborative and informal atmosphere. The 2016 NOX-GRC program is organized around the theme "Nox molecular insights leading to translation". Session topics include the molecular structure of NOX complexes, genetic/epigenetic regulation, NOX-mediated inflammation and metabolic regulation, novel modes of NOX regulation and translational studies on gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, neurologic diseases and cancer, including discussions on novel NOX inhibitors. In addition, a keynote session will feature broad and thought-provoking discussions on redox processes. NOX-GRC will provide a venue for innovative and paradigm-challenging presentations, given by internationally recognized experts and followed by ample time for discussions chaired by discussion leaders. This healthy interaction will be sustained and extended at poster sessions, focused on early-career investigators. The meeting was organized to reflect gender and geographic diversity of the field, and will allow for the inclusion of late-breaking science and speakers selected from trainee abstracts. The accompanying GRS features discussions on NOX-related science directed at young investigators and mentoring aspects of career development led by senior scientists, together with oral and poster presentations. The 2016 NOX-GRC will further consolidate the NOX scientific community to advance our investigation on this vigorously evolving area. Please join us on this exciting meeting!
