Extreme-scale and exascale systems impose new requirements on application developers and programming systems to target platforms with hundreds of homogeneous and heterogeneous cores, as well as energy, data movement and resiliency constraints within and across nodes. Runtime systems play a critical role in enabling future programming models, execution models and hardware architectures to address these challenges, and in reducing the widening gap between peak performance and the performance achieved by real applications. The goal of this workshop is to attract leading international researchers to exchange ideas and share their work-in-progress and latest results involving runtime approaches to address these extreme-scale and exascale software challenges.
