The 2015 Gordon Research Conference (GRC) "Eye Movements" will present a program that provides fresh perspectives on core oculomotor issues. A unique panel format encourages leaders in the field to present only their most recent findings and, together with expert discussants, to emphasize the latest advances and emerging trends. Sessions will explore key issues such as how ocular motility dictates visual perception and, complementarily, how visual perception guides eye movement. Likewise, the clinical significance of oculomotor control will be featured across multiple sessions in which the oculomotor manifestations of both peripheral and cognitive-level diseased states are examined. Along with the most current conceptual advances, sessions will tie oculomotor behaviors to the latest information on their anatomical, physiological, and computational underpinnings. Also planned is a critical look at the emergence of optogenetic methods and their promise for revealing the neural mechanisms of oculomotor control. The conference takes place at Bentley University, a picturesque setting with ready access to Boston and Logan Airport. The schedule is designed to promote discussion during and after scheduled talks and at highly interactive poster sessions. All attendees are urged to stay for the duration of the meeting. The GRC will once again be preceded by a Gordon Research Seminar (GRS), designed by and for the exclusive benefit of trainees. Together, the GRC and GRS constitute an immersive experience in which participants share ideas over meals and jointly participate in scheduled and unscheduled social activities. The format provides unparalleled opportunity for participants of all career stages to share their most novel findings, foster new collaborative efforts, and chart the future directions of oculomotor research.
