The Gordon Conference on Microbial Adhesion and Signal Transduction serves a diverse group of scientists with interests spanning the most fundamental and actively investigated topics in current microbiology. Topics of focus in the conference include sociomicrobiology (microbial group interactions and behaviorts), bacterial/eukaryotic interactions (both symbiotic, intracellular, and pathogenic), latest developments in paradigm regulatory networks, cell signaling and information processing, cell surface structures and assembly, cell biology, and microbe-surface interactions. A central goal of this conference is to discuss and disseminate the latest findings in the research areas described above. In addition, we hope to identify and highlight emerging, exciting research that represents new directions related to the conference’s central theme. The invited speakers represent a variety of scientific disciplines and include geneticists, biochemists, immunologists, cell biologists, animal and plant physiologists, chemists, theoreticians, engineers, and computer scientists. This diversity, coupled with the intimate setting provided by the GRC, makes an ideal venue for interaction between scientists trained in widely different fields and serves to promote interdisciplinary interactions and collaborations.
