The Gordon Research Conference on Molecular and Cellular Biology of Lipids provides an opportunity for scientists to present and discuss their research in lipid biology and metabolism. The meeting will be held July 26-31 at the Waterville Valley Resort in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire. This conference will include nine lecture sessions and four afternoon poster sessions that highlight fundamental aspects of Lipid Dynamics and Lipidomics at the molecular, cellular and organismal levels. Current perspectives on a broad range of topics will be covered in lectures by established and emerging leaders, and short oral presentations from young investigators will be selected from submitted poster abstracts. The topics include membrane lipid-protein interactions, new technology in cellular lipid imaging, lipid trafficking, signaling, implementation of lipidomics for investigation of disease mechanisms and how microbes hijack host lipid metabolism. Attendees from diverse disciplines traditionally engage in lively discussions that encompass biochemistry, structural biology, cell biology, microbiology, physiology and genetics. Attendees benefit from the high quality of the speakers, the diverse experimental backgrounds of the participants and the numerous afternoon recreational activities that are available for informal interactions. One goal of the conference is to advance understanding of how the dynamics of lipid metabolism contribute to the regulation of biological structure and function, with an eye toward future medical applications.
