The 2015 Gordon Research Conference on Photochemistry will have a special focus on applications of photochemical reactions in industry and applied science, with speakers from academia, government-sponsored laboratories, and global corporate research facilities. Special attention will be given at this year's meeting to photochemical approaches for the synthesis and characterization of new materials and organic molecules, solar energy applications, biosensors and imaging techniques, and supramolecular chemistry. On the more fundamental side there will be sessions devoted to mechanisms, spectroscopy and dynamics, and the role of spin in photochemical reaction mechanisms. The conference will continue its nearly half century tradition of dynamic discussions on the most recent advances and unsolved scientific problems. The format of lectures, poster presentations and informal discussions provides an ideal venue for students and post-doctoral fellows to interact with leaders in the field. Additionally, these early-career scientists will have an opportunity to participate in the Gordon Research Seminar on Photochemistry to be held prior to the GRC, which will focus on solar energy problems. Speakers for several short talks will be selected from interested participants who submit poster abstracts.
