The primary goal in regenerative medicine is to facilitate the replacement of injured, diseased or aged tissues with fully functional counterparts, thus extending the healthy life expectancy of our aging population. As such the field of regenerative medicine has great potential in tackling many of the greatest health concerns and needs of the 21st century. The Gordon Research Conference on Tissue Repair and Regeneration (GRC-TRR) is the only major recurrent meeting focusing on the broad topic of regenerative medicine, from the basic mechanisms of tissue repair and regeneration, to their clinical applications. The 2015 iteration of the Gordon Research on Tissue Repair and Regeneration will be held at Colby Sawyer College, New London, NH, June 7-11. The overarching aim of this edition of the GRC-TRR will be to assemble the greatest minds in regenerative biology under one roof to discuss the latest findings in the field. We have planned nine scientific sessions focusing on several topics relevant to regenerative medicine. The titles for the sessions are 1. The effects of aging on tissue repair and regeneration 2. Organ regeneration 3. Nuclear reprogramming and dedifferentiation 4. Model organisms of regeneration; 5. The roles of reactive oxygen species in tissue repair and regeneration 6. Stem cell therapies for tissue repair and regeneration 7. The stem cell niche 8. Skin repair and 9. Long coding RNAs and epigenetics in stem/progenitor cells. It is anticipated that exposure to this very diverse group of scientists will foster stimulating discussions and lead to productive collaborations, which will facilitate the development of the next generation of novel therapeutics in regenerative medicine. Following on the success of the last two Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) in 2011 and 2013, we will host a GRS pre-meeting for students once again, in conjunction with GRC-TRR, which will be held the two days prior to the main meeting. Apart from the formal presentations and daily poster sessions, there will be ample opportunities for informal gatherings for brainstorming sessions and the initiation of cross-disciplinary collaborations amongst the delegates attending the meeting.
