The Mammary Gland Biology Gordon Research Conference brings together a fascinating blend of scientists interested in the molecular and cellular mechanisms governing normal mammary gland development, physiology and cancer. The 2014 conference will focus on outstanding questions and recent discoveries related to the mammary niche and reprogramming, pubertal and pregnancy hormones, lactation and involution, breast cancer risk and prevention, tumor heterogeneity and resistance to therapy as well as dormancy and metastasis. Experts in these fields were invited to share their most recent findings and discuss emerging challenges. Short talks highlighting outstanding work by young investigators and trainees will be chosen from the submitted abstracts.
The Mammary Gland Biology GRC has a longstanding tradition of excellent interactions across all levels of seniority, from the newest student to world-renowned PIs. The multipronged nature of this meeting guarantees a high degree of scientific cross-fertilization. Moreover, the family spirit and openness that systematically prevail at this conference is propitious for the emergence of new ideas and collaborations. Lively poster sessions and opportunities for gathering during the free time warrant a smooth integration of new attendees.
The 2014 GRC will be preceded by the third Mammary Gland Gordon Research Seminar. Post-graduate students and post-docs are encouraged to apply for both meetings.
This meeting will feature "Lunch with the expert", where trainees and experts will meet during lunch each day to provide opportunities for discussing career paths, writing grants and papers as well as other topics brought up by the trainees. Opportunities to attend will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis via sign-up at the time of GRC registration. Each trainee is free to attend as many of the lunches as they would like.
