活动简介
Because of the extensive growth of international travel and trade, the problems facing public health, veterinary health, and environmental health have become exceedingly complex. No longer can a single field of study or discipline manage the complex problems in emerging zoonoses, food security, or antimicrobial resistance. There has become a need for an interdisciplinary approach that address the complexity of these problems, One Health has been recognized by many international professional organizations and institutions as an effective approach to addressing these complex issues. The goal of this international symposium is to recognize and encourage multidisciplinary One Health approaches to research.
The Symposium will be held in Guangdong, China and hosted by Sun Yat-sen University, the University of Florida, and South China Agricultural University. With this international meeting we intend to engage professional from all of China's provinces, the five autonomous regions of China (Inner Mongolia, Zingjian, Guangxi, Ningxia, and Tibet), and the neighboring countries of Mongolia, Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakstan, and Macao.
In this meeting we will embrace a broad definition of "One Health” such as that adapted by the American Veterinary Medical Association "One Health is the collaborative effort of multiple disciplines – working locally, nationally, and globally – to attain optimal health for people, animals, and our environment.”
The Goal of the Symposium
Promote interdisciplinary One Health research in China and neighboring countries
Create new One Health related research collaborations in Asia
Encourage young researchers to engage in One Health research
The Topic and Scale of the Symposium
This two-day symposium will feature several internationally recognized One Health experts (click here). Form among the best submitted abstracts, One Health research will be presented from the following 5 themes: food security, emerging zoonoses, environmental science, antimicrobial resistance, and wildlife ecology. In addition, a student One Health research competition will be held where the students giving the best presentations will win prizes.
All abstracts, oral presentation, and poster must be prepared in English (language most often used in international science meetings today).
Meeting participants with the best examples of One Health research will be invited by the Scientific Committee to submit a manuscript of their research for consideration for publication in a special supplemental issue of the Chinese Medical Journal.
Researchers from diverse disciplines such as public health, veterinary health, environmental health, medicine, agriculture, marine biology, and toxicology are invited to attend the symposium. The expected number of participants is 150.
