CAS-TWAS Centre of Excellence for Biotechnology (CoEBio) is excited to announce that 2014 TWAS Symposium on Industrial Biotechnology, with the theme of "Industrial Biotechnology: Sustainable Solution for Developing Countries", will be held in Beijing, from October 15 (Wednesday) to October 17 (Friday), 2014.
Industrial biotechnology has grown to being an enabling technology capable of being incorporated into many different sectors of an economy. Besides developed countries, in recent years, industrial biotechnology has been considered as an essential tool for socio-economic development by an increasing number of developing countries.
This symposium is intended to give an overview of the opportunities and barriers to the industrial and environmental application of biotechnology in developing countries. Illustrious speakers from both developed and developing countries will be invited. The symposium will provide a good opportunity for researches from the developing countries to exchange ideas, to share experiences, and to promote international collaboration to explore the potential solutions to the faced shortage in food, medicine and more and more serious environmental problems. To achieve this, discussion will be focused on three major areas: (1) Cell factory and Bio-based products; (2) Synthetic biotechnology and Biomedicines; (3) Environmental biotechnology and Sustainable development.
