As the joint research project for land systems for the International Geosoere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP) and the International Human Dimensions Programme (IHDP), GLP has a major goal to “measure, model and understand the coupled human-environmental system”. The GLP International Project Office (IPO) is located in São José dos Campos (Brazil). Currently, there are three GLP Nodal Offices in Taipei (Taiwan), Sapporo (Japan) and Beijing (China) which provide infrastructural, personnel and scientific input and support in the process of implementing the GLP science plan:
In order to enhance the international understanding of dynamics relationships between land system and ecosystem in response to natural and human-induced disturbances at various scales, the Taipei GLP Nodal Office was established in 2012 with the specific theme focusing on “Management and development of knowledge on land-use, ecosystem and their interactions at different spatial scales”.
As the Taipei GLP Nodal Office takes an important role in the GLP Science Plan, one of our important missions goes to the Management of knowledge and information through International Services and Development including hosting and organizing GLP conference in Asia so as to:
Present the research findings by the members of Taipei GLP Nodal Office and other GLP associated researchers.
Sharing the up-to-date knowledge and information related to land-use change and land management among participants.
Enhance scientific exchange between GLP regional and international partners.
