This workshop will address key technologies and best practices for improving well performance and reducing well costs to optimize completions across the spectrum of active North American shale reservoirs. This year’s workshop will follow precedent from past workshops in first building a foundation using key learnings from the reservoir geosciences world. Sessions and topics will reflect the ongoing industry emphasis on the liquid-rich plays, with somewhat less attention paid to dry gas. Presentations on the application of new and emerging technologies for the “shales” will follow the geosciences session. Field development topics will also be covered, along with post-treatment, production management, and reservoir remediation/rejuvenation. Over the 2 ½ day event, six of the ten sessions will be devoted to key North American shale plays. These sessions will include the mature unconventional plays, Appalachian Basin plays, selected Canadian plays, Rocky Mountain plays, Permian Basin plays, and the Eagle Ford play. The theme is a “data-driven best practices” approach and operators, service companies, and academia are encouraged to show interpretations based on solid data. The workshop will cover most of the critical aspects of shale reservoir development throughout the resource life cycle. If past results are indicators of future success, this event will bring new insights to attendees.
