We invite you to participate at the "Second International Sustainable Watershed Management Conference (SuWaMa 2014)". The Conference will be held in the Hilton Dalaman Hotel, Sarigerme, Turkey, 13-17 October, 2014. The Conference site is situated on Turkey's southwestern coastline of the Mediterranean Sea. It will be followed by an optional three-day excursion to either Ephesus or Blue Mediterranean tour. There will be training courses (workshops) on various decision support tools before the Conference. Key issues covered by the conference are: · Good watershed management practices: Case studies and examples from various countries including lessons learned from implementation of both successful and deficient management scenarios. · Decision support tools: Monitoring, GIS, data / information management, indicators, ecological economics, cost/benefit analysis, decision making models, legislation and policies, participatory methods / water user partnerships, and criteria to evaluate / assess watershed management implementation. · Models: Integrated environmental model applications for management including watershed, air shed, coastal, and living resource models. · Adaptive water resources management to evaluate and address trans-boundary environmental issues including: climate change, air pollution, coastal ocean effects at regional, continental, and global scales. · Global watershed sustainability: Establishment of a Sustainable Use Watershed Management Seal of Excellence Award initiative that recognizes outstanding programs worldwide. SuWaMa Scientific Committee invites you to submit an extended abstract of less than 1,000 words (3 page limit), summarizing the proposed presentation. The abstract should be emailed to suwama2014.conference@igemportal.org by 17 March, 2014. Submissions will be judged on relevance to conference themes, clarity of thought, data/documented results, creativity, fit in conference program and other criteria.
