Historically, electric power sources have been remotely located from power demand area. As the output of the power sources and the power demand grew, the distance between them became larger. In some countries, the electricity has been transferred over several hundred kilometers. Toward the low-carbon society, several counties defined challengeable targets such as to incorporate 53GW photovoltaic by 2030, which is a case in Japan. Nowadays, such cases can be observed throughout countries in Asia-Oceania region as well as other areas in the world. Dispersed generations which are mainly located near the demand area might have been expected to provide for the local consumption but it could cause the connecting issues due to the instability of current dispersed generation.
For the Technical Meeting, AORC-CIGRE has agreed to broaden the range of topics with the theme of: " Interconnections and Connecting New Power Sources to the Grid "
New Power Sources might contain photovoltaics, wind turbines, large batteries, electric vehicles, or even conventional thermal or hydro generators with new technologies or usages. Lately, the best mix of power sources would have been changed. While laws and regulations with attractive tariffs have been established together for the development of renewable energies. Some adverse effects including technical and/or economical difficulties have emerged. However, it is expected that the AORC countries share their knowledge and technologies, and it will surely contribute to overcome these potential problems.
In this meeting, authors are invited to present papers on experience, researches, analyses and operations with respect to development, integration issues and solutions of interconnections and dispersed renewable energies.
A technical visit is also being organized.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our pleasure to invite the authors and delegates from all members of CIGRE to join AORC Technical Meeting 2014 in Tokyo, Japan.
