A failure of equipment while in service could cause millions of dollars of losses and damages. It has been proved that new techniques for condition monitoring and diagnosis can help to detect incipient faults and prevent catastrophic failures. Moreover, Information technology, which has been introduced into condition monitoring and diagnosis in recent years, will play an important role in the interpretation of condition monitoring results. CMD 2008 will provide a forum for presentations and discussions among engineers and researchers with the view of sharing knowledge, experiences and ideas in this area.
