The International Institute for Research and Education in Power Systems (IREP) invites you to attend the IX Bulk Power System Dynamics and Control Symposium to be held at the Rithymna Beach Hotel near the city of Rethymnon on the island of Crete, Greece. The symposium will continue the tradition of outstanding events in the field of power system analysis and control, promoting stimulating debates on present and emerging issues, and addressing guidelines for future research and applications that meet the needs of the evolving electric power industry. This international symposium will ensure a friendly and enthusiastic gathering of world-wide experts in power system dynamics and control, and is structured to promote engaging discussions beyond the time allocated for paper presentations. Rethymnon with its picturesque Venetian Old Town and Harbor lies between the two major centers of Crete (Chania and Heraklion). The airports of both cities have regular flight connections to Athens, as well as many international destinations. Shuttle services will be arranged to and from the Symposium venue. Regular ferry boat connections to Piraeus (the port of Athens) are also available. The combination of high-level technical papers and presentations, together with unique local sights and attractions, is characteristic of the IREP symposia. The series of Bulk Power System Dynamics and Control Symposia was established by Les Fink in 1988 and has been managed since 1994 by the International Institute for Research and Education in Power System Dynamics (IREP). The Rethymnon Symposium will continue the previous experiences from Potosi, USA (1988), Deep Creek Lake, USA(1991), Davos, Switzerland (1994), Santorini, Greece (1998), Onomichi, Japan (2001), Cortina D'Ampezzo, Italy (2004), Charleston, USA (2007) and Buzios, Brazil (2010).
