活动简介
The 2013 Gordon Conference in Neuroethology will focus on neural networks, circuits, and modules. The conference will bring together leading scientists studying neurobiology, computational neuroscience, robotics, molecular and evolutionary genetics, and human health issues. Intense focused presentations and lively discussion are envisioned with the goal of developing novel insights into the fundamental neural mechanisms underlying behavior. Speakers have been chosen to give a broad, up-to-date overview of this vibrant and multidisciplinary field. In the spirit of the Gordon Conferences, the meeting is meant to foster intense discussion to push the frontiers of the field. Each session will be introduced by a discussion leader who will provide an overview of the topic. Most speakers will be given 25-30 minutes to speak, followed by 10-15 minutes of discussion related to the talk. In addition, some submitted abstracts will be selected for short oral presentations. We do not expect conventional data-driven talks; rather, the speakers will address the central questions of the session using their own work and that of others to illustrate their ideas and to provide their assessment of progress made with regard to near-term and long-term goals in their given field. All attendees are encouraged to present posters; the abstract deadline is July 1, 2013. The Conference will bring together a diverse collection of investigators who are at the forefront of their field. Importantly, junior scientists including graduate students will present their work in poster and oral format and have the opportunity to exchange ideas with leaders in the field. The collegial atmosphere of this Conference, with programmed discussion sessions as well as opportunities for informal gatherings in the afternoons and evenings, will promote cross-disciplinary collaborations in the research areas represented and provide a unique venue for scientists from different disciplines to exchange ideas. A Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) is being held in conjunction with this Conference. Click here for more information about the 2013 GRS in Neuroethology.
