The field of epigenetics covers the diverse processes through which non-genetic information, encoded outside DNA nucleotide sequence, is regulated and transmitted through cell divisions, and, in some cases, vertically across generations. Since the first meeting in 1995, the Epigenetics GRC has been an important forum for sharing new results and fostering the development of this rapidly advancing field. Throughout its sixteen-year history, this conference series has focused on the molecular mechanisms that underlie epigenetic phenomena in a broad range of eukaryotes. The 2013 Epigenetics conference will continue this emphasis on underlying mechanisms, including RNA-directed chromatin modification, DNA modification dynamics, RNA inheritance, three-dimensional nuclear organization, and prions. In addition, selected sessions will explore active subtopics, such as epigenomics, transgenerational inheritance, and the intersection of epigenetics and the environment. The conference will bring together leaders from a variety of disciplines working on diverse experimental platforms. Space in each session will be reserved for presentations to be selected from submitted abstracts, and will include talks from both younger scientists and established researchers with new, exciting findings. Poster presentations are invited from all participants. Bryant University, located close to Providence, RI, will be the venue for this conference.
