ASDSC 2013 combines two symposia of communication doctoral students among seven institutions in Asia: the Honors Symposia for Asian Ph.D. Students in Communication (including, listed alphabetically, City University of Hong Kong, Korea University, Nanyang Technological University, and Yonsei University) and the Ph.D. Student Symposia of Chinese Research Alliance on Journalism and Communication (including, also alphabetically, City University of Hong Kong, Communication University of China, Fudan University, and Taiwan National University). The two symposia held annual meetings in Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul, Shanghai, Beijing, and Taipei between 2009 and 2012, respectively. ASDSC 2013 opens a new page of the regional collaboration with participants from all seven institutions for the first time. Department of Media and Communication at City University of Hong Kong (“CityU” hereafter) is honored to be the organizer of the symposium.
