Goals - The main goal of IMV 2013 is to identify state-of-the-art mobile-vision algorithms, systems and frameworks that are particularly suitable for intelligent and interactive information processing based on mobile camera computing platforms. In addition to visual information, interdisciplinary works integrating vision with additional sensors, such as GPS, accelerometer and gyroscope, or multimedia information retrieval are also welcome. The associated methodologies and applications are expected to be able to demonstrate the advantages of advanced techniques based on mobile camera computing devices.
Relevance and Significance - Cameras have become standard equipment for hand-held devices, such as smart phone and mobile PC. With the fast growing of mobile computing platforms, computer vision on mobile devices has become a fast emerging research area. There is tremendous potential for developing vision-based multimedia techniques and applications on mobile camera computing devices. In particular, more and more mobile vision applications rely on object and scene recognition or retrieval techniques. It is observable that advances in mobile visual-information analyses are closely related to cutting-edge applications in multimedia, human-computer interaction, smart sensors and ubiquitous computing. IMV 2013 aims to bring together researchers in the related areas to present the latest developments and technical solutions concerning intelligent mobile vision, including novel algorithms, applications, and systems associated with mobile cameras.
