The 2013 International Bioinformatics Workshop (IBW 2013) is to be held in Fudan University, Shanghai, China, on July 11-12, 2013. This is the eleventh meeting of this workshop series after a successful decade of meetings (Fudan University in 2003, Tsinghua University in 2004, Jilin University in 2005, Central South University in 2006, Shandong University in 2007, Yunnan University in 2008, Suzhou University in 2009, Wuhan University in 2010, the Fourth Military Medical University in 2011, and Jilin University in 2012). The meeting is targeted towards students and postdocs working on bioinformatics research in China, although it was also attended by many bioinformatics faculties and experimental biomedical scientists. It is encouraged that the speakers to speak more Chinese for better understanding from the audiences. The past 10 meetings have attracted close to 3,000 students and postdoctoral fellows to this major annual event in the Chinese bioinformatics community. Prior to the 2-day IBW2013 meeting, there is a 5-day Dragon Star bioinformatics course from July 6 - 10 at the same location. This year’s lecturer is Dr. Zhiping Weng from UMass, USA.
